Ceratomantis

Ceratomantis is a small but very beautiful mantis. Because of the big crown in the middle of their head they are also called "Unicorn Mantis". They also have very long antennas.

Mantids from this genus are not very aggressive, so they could be kept together until L5/ L6. Bigger nymphs should be seperated by sex or better be single- kept.

At present, at least 2 species are described: Ceratomantis saussurii (WOOD-MASON, 1876) and C. yünnanensis (ZHANG, 1986).

Typical look of the nymphs :

  • L2 and up: white, like bigger nymphs

Ceratomantis is one of the most beautiful species. But because of their small size they are not recommend for beginners.
